World Note

Make your first map (5 min)

Starting from a blank screen, we walk through a map with a background, one region, one marker, and one linked note.

  1. Enter Background edit with the Background edit tab at the top left.

  2. Generate a world with the terrain generator. Adjust the sea level, continents, and climate sliders, and lock the seed once you like the shape.

  3. Apply a style preset to set the map’s overall visuals.

  4. Click the Files or Search tab to leave Background edit.

  1. In the bottom toolbar, select Draw region (shortcut R).

  2. Click on the canvas to place the outline and close the loop. Accept the confirm bar when it appears.

  3. To refine the shape further, pick one of the Draw region tools and edit it.

In the toolbar, select Place marker (shortcut M), pick an icon from the marker picker, and click the map.

Click a region or marker and a Create New Document / Link Existing Document prompt appears.

All your edits, including the map and documents, are saved automatically.

Want to look around before building your own? You can start right away from a sample project on the welcome screen. Change the app language and the sample project is offered in that language too, so check it out in a language you know well.
